Get to Know Us

Shepherdswell Guides are groups of girls aged between 10 and 14 who meet from 6pm to 8pm on a Monday each week in the village of Shepherdswell.  We take part in a range of activities and events which includes working on our own in Patrols, joining with the Explorers & Scouts and going on holidays.   We plan our own meetings, decide which badges we would like to work towards, which activities we would like to do and how we can help our wider community.

Our Patrols

I promise that I will do my best:
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the Queen and my community,
To help other people
and
To keep the Guide Law.

A Guide is honest, reliable and can be trusted.
A Guide is helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely.
A Guide faces challenge and learns from her experiences.
A Guide is a good friend and a sister to all Guides.
A Guide is polite and considerate.
A Guide respects all living things and takes care of the world around her.

We currently have 4 patrols with names chosen by the girls:

Dolphins.       Starfish

     Turtles.       Ferrets

Each patrol has a

Patrol Leader and Patrol Second.

We have 4 leaders:

Hippo, Koala, Kiwi & Piglet

Unfortunately during lockdown we have not been able to take part in adventurous activities but have been keeping busy solving codes, learning about the 5 World Centres & discovering facts from around the world.

Night Hikes & Water Sports

Usually we complete one night hike a year - We catch the train to Bekesbourne in the evening and hike back arriving around midnight.  We then sleepover in the hut.  We have also taken part in a watersports weekend at Bewl Water & learnt kayaking with Canoe Wild at Grove Ferry.

Fundraising

We usually organise 2 door to door cakes sales in our village in March & October to help with our fundraising. We  have also completed a sponsored sleep out to raise money for Porchlight and had a stall at our local fete to raise money for Kent Search & Rescue.
